Over the many years that I have resided in the third world, my thoughts have been related to how I can help eradicate the poverty that surrounds me. My answer to that problem is that by retiring here my meager pensions actually help as a Peso Millionaire most of my money enters the local economy. I help fund parents to send children to school and send a talented Filipino to university to train to be a teacher (a much needed talent). I am just one of the ex-pats that help most do not realize they do. But I realized the biggest help that any foreigner can achieve is to make countries in the third world a holiday destination.

Want to help eradicate poverty and have a nice time doing just that? Well the answer is to go on an adventure holiday where the airfare is the only real big expense. You arrange the accommodation by surfing the web. This means looking for low priced accommodation and not staying at the Ritz and one can arrange a holiday of a life time or at least one to educate you on the problems of poverty. Your money will spread far here everything is cheaper here.

A good choice could be the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Philippines where every cent you spend helps to put food on peoples table. If you took a holiday package most of your money would go to the super rich and not to those that really need the money. Being adventurous is much more fun anyway and you really get a taste of the culture as it really is.

Good sites to research an adventure holiday:

livinginthephilippines.com  as the information there is published by ex-pats that live here in the Philippines.

http://www.tripadvisor.com Information about most travel destination around the globe

http://www.alloexpat.com/philippines_expat_forum/  alloexpats.com is also a good source to obtain information for most travel destinations around the globe and from people that live or travel to a destination regularly.

The Island where I live has one of the best tourist attractions in the Philippines information on Dumaguete can be found on the local forum dumagueteinfo.com.

The people in the Philippines are very friendly and most speak English. So surf the web and see how interesting the Philippines is as a holiday destination or maybe you want to retire and live on a tropical Island as I do.

Thanks for the flag....

The Philippines remains the world's second largest producer of geothermal energy for power generation. Currently, the Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) is supervising the operations of nine (9) geothermal service contract areas, of which, six (6) are producing fields and three (3) are under advanced exploration stage.

I knew they did but the scale surprised me...
