Human rights are for everyone
Politics don't mean anything if people do not have the right to discuss them. The US is one of those lucky nations in the world where one is not imprisoned if you are in opposition to the government. That is part of the western Enlightment tradition that we can thank men like Paine, Jefferson and Madison among others, for. Unfortunatley this tradition hasn't taken hold to a great extent in nations in the Middle East, much of sub-Sahara Africa and central Asia.
Amnesty International along with its' national affiliates and Human Rights Watch do great work in publicizing human rights violations throughout the world. Other organizations that support specific rights such as freedom of the press include International Freedom Exchange and International Pen. My interests in politics doesn't extend to just the US, but to every nation in the world where one is oppressed because I fundamentally believe that freedom is an inherent condition of man.
I believe that it evolved through natural processes though most probably believe it is deity based. Whatever its' origins, it is an inherent nature of man. I urge everyone to visit these sites and if like me and concerned about men and women imprisoned for speaking their mind, sending a few letters through the postal system.
