The plot thickens...

I’ve been informed of the name of the Council member who is the source of this sensitive leak.

By this time tomorrow, all of Vancouver would have learned the name of the sitting Council member who released the confidential 2010 Olympic $100 million loan material to the media.

But will this anticipated information affect voter choices?   As a commenter said:

I would think that the leak is warranted in the interest of Vancouver taxpayers. Most people think the deal is kind of stinky. If the politicians have not put the city’s finances at risk, why isn’t Ms Lo there at the in-camera meeting.

And this on the heals of a spirited exchange between Louie and the Global reporter who insinuated Louie's involvement. Here is how the Sun described it:

A tense exchange broke out between Louie and Global reporter Ted Chernecki, who demanded to know why Louie simply didn't make his case to the station before the broadcast.

Chernecki noted that Global had staked out Louie's home "all day."

Louie snapped back that it was precisely that -- an "appalling" blurring of the line between his job and his family life -- that angered him, and that Global had given him no "factual material" to refute.

Even Francis Bula (who's blogging on all things civic is outstanding) can't figure out what's happening.  She writes (admittedly after a few glasses of wine):

But, really, aren’t you finding this Olympic-loan, hunt-for-the-leaker saga is all really like a Tom Wolfe novel? We have the mass media in full hyena mode (I’m one of them, so I’m allowed to say that), irresolvable mysteries, people being torn to shreds, cheap politics of the worst kind on all sides.

So the latest.

B.C. Lee is devastated at the news that his own city secretary, Cecelia Smith, has sworn an affadavit essentially saying that he wasn’t telling the truth about the purloined Olympic-loan documents.

Whoever leaked the info should not be elected.  They put partisan interests ahead of those of the city.

Francis Bula has speculated that the leak came from someone with 'nothing left to lose' which prompted many to name Sam Sullivan as the likely culprit.  But as Bula says:

But there are several people at city hall with nothing left to lose.

See the rest of her blog to follow the speculation.

Sam seems like he could be very vendictive.
