'I'm Back': T.I. Finishes Prison Term, Releasing Album in August

T.I. finished his prison sentence on March 26, stemming from weapons charges in 2007, but he still has 400 hours of community service left and will be on probation for the next 3 years.

The rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., finished his 366-day term for attempting to illegally purchase firearms—a charge that carries a maximum 10-year sentence and a $250,000 fine.

T.I.’s Sentencing Reduced

Through a plea bargain, T.I. had the sentence reduced to just over a year and a $100,300 fine  after completing 1,000 hours of community service before he was locked up.

He began serving time at the Federal Correction Complex in Forrest City, Arkansas, but was moved to an Atlanta, Georgia halfway house in December. He spent the last 30 days under house arrest with a curfew of 11:00 p.m., or 1:00 a.m. on nights he was performing.

T.I. will have a supervised release with an additional 23 days under house arrest, regular meetings with his probation officer, and should he need to travel, he must be granted permission.

T.I. Recording New Album Before Release

Earlier this month, T.I. released a single titled I’m Back, marking the follow-up to 2008’s Paper Trail, which he started recording at the halfway house. The album is untitled and set to be released on August 24.

He has also collaborated with other artists on recent tracks, including the song Winner with Jamie Foxx and Guilty from Usher’s upcoming album, Raymond vs. Raymond.
