A business to business news portal of Indian and European filmmakers was launched in London Monday April 14, 2008. India EU Film Initiative (IEFILMI) is poised as a bridge to link the film cultures between Europe and India and common to both, a tool for both to consult and able to act as a proactive facilitator for both communities, said its director Pervaiz Alam.

He said IEFILMI's goals include facilitation of trade and business in the commissioning, production, distribution and promotion of films in India and the EU countries. "We play a role by creating awareness and networking among the involved partners," added Alam.

According to a press release issued by India EU Film Initaitive, IEFILMI's focus is on having a dialogue with the UK's film organisations, potential investors, distributors and, at a later stage, the same experience would be repeated in other European countries.

Alam said "We organise talks, discussions, academic lectures, trade seminars and Q&A sessions to engage the European film fraternity. Our latest series 'Life and Times in Indian Cinema' featured Indian actors Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri, and film director Jag Mundhra at well-attended programmes in Central London. Prominent Bollywood personalities will be participating in the forthcoming events."

The will have features on exclusive interviews with filmmakers and analytical reports on film buisness. "Our exclusive features, interviews and reports published on our site www.iefilmi.com generate huge media interest. A large quantity of our published material is reproduced in Indian papers, magazines, portals and journals," said Alam.

He added "We invite leading film directors, producers and stars from India to avail of emerging investment opportunities in the UK and other EU countries. We are in the middle of planning a festival of documentaries in London."
