The Australian team announced its playing eleven on wednesday itself. The team has decided to go with one spinner & four seamers on a turning track. Nathan Lyon will the the only spinner in the team while Mitchell Starc, James Pattinson, Henriques & Peter Siddle will turn the pace on the Indian batsmen. Michael Clark will captain the Australian side. The team has been in good form lately, and have recently wrapped up the one-day series against West Indies in Australia where the stellar performances of Shane Watson, Mitchell Starc ensured that the Australian side won the series five-nil.

The Indian side has been inconsistant of late with poor performances in the longer format of the game. The team lost to both England & Australia last year. With Dhoni captaining the team it is a litmus test for him too as his captaincy will be at stake if they loose this series to Australia. Gambhir who’s performance has best been dodgy in the past has not been selected for the 1st two matches. Ajinkiya Rahane or Murali Vijay may be played at that slot. All eyes will of course be on Sachin Tendulkar as he has been performing well in domestic cricket. It will also be his first outing in an international match after he announced his retirement from the shorter versions of the game. Harbhajan Singh may be a part of the playing eleven and if he is it will be his 100th test match a huge achievement of sorts.
