We saw our own spinners failing to do the magic on pitches specially prepared for them on the orders of our great captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. With his known powers in the Indian cricket establishment he was able to get pitches that favoured Indian spinners and were supposed to be dead for very potent fast bowling attack of England.

But we saw during the course of test series that England were able to exploit the spin pitches to their benefit while Indian spinners struggled to find feet. Another thing that we experienced during the series was the fact that while Indian batsmen struggled to bat on pitches made specially for them, English batsmen showed their class when they were able to score huge total against top Indian bowlers. They thrashed both spinners and pacers in equal manner.

Though many people will say that T20 is a different format altogether and teams don’t get that much time to build an inning and here things are different than what were during India vs England test series. Though it is true, that the format is different but the dynamics of the game remain same. The team that plays well and has got its basics right will certainly win the matches and the series. And by the way whatever we have seen of both the teams in the series, we can safely conclude that India are not in their best form while England have shown all round improvement and so if they do better they are certainly poised to win not just the match today, but also the series.

How can we expect the T20 match to be different from the test series when ten of the 15 players in India’s squad also took part in the Test series? Ambati Rayudu, who replaced the injured Manoj Tiwary, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the two new additions apart from the regulars but could find it hard to make it to the XI. Parwinder Awana could make his international debut after L Balaji and Vinay Kumar were withdrawn from the squad due to injuries. I am very unsure if this team will be able to do any magic in the match today.
