England earlier in the day were all out for 330 runs in their first innings.

English bowlers used the slow and uneven bounce of the track well to trouble Indian batsmen.

India made a poor start to the innings as they lost the wicket of opener Virender Sehwag (0) in the first over.

England's James Anderson did major damage as he scalped the wickets of Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir (37) and Sachin Tendulkar (2). Spinner Graeme Swann picked up the wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara (26).

Skipper MS Dhoni (8*) and Virat Kohli (11*) will resume the proceedings on Saturday morning as India still trail by 243 runs.

Resuming at the overnight score of 199 for five, English batsmen added 131 runs to post 330 runs on the scoreboard.

Kevin Pietersen (73), Matt Prior (57), Joe Root (73) and Swann (56) made good contributions with their willows.

Indian spinner Piyush Chawla scalped four wickets by giving away 69 runs.

Ishant Sharma took three wickets while Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets in the innings. R Ashwin scalped the wicket of Prior.

England lead the series by 2-1 margin.
