International Friendship Day - 2nd August 2009

The day for celebrating the beautiful relation called Friendship. It is the only relation in the world which you choose on your own. Of course, you cannot choose who your parents would be but you and only you can decide who joins your world of friends.

However, I personally believe that Friendship should be celebrated each day and not on a specially commemorated day because it is too precious a relation to be just observed once in a year.

Coming to the point, International Friendship Day celebrations take place in most parts of the world on the first Sunday of August every year. It is believed that this tradition of dedicating a day every year in honor of friends started in the United States of America in 1935.

Lets be friends this Friendship Day! Come on people wish your near & dear ones. Its the time to revive broken relationships and forge new friendships for a lifetime! Let the message of Friendship spread its wings and fly the world making the people who read it, smile! :)

Talking about Friendship Day. I ought to talk about penpals. I have three penpals. One is a bloke called Simon, who likes films; Eve, a woman who is Christian (we enjoy writing) and one is a woman prisoner in Africa, though I have a horrible feeling she 'has gone to another prison' as I haven't heard from her for a while. Sometimes we have such different lives, but still is interesting and fun. I think I ought to get another one at some point.

I had had a 'delayed Friendship Day Experience' today Two cyclists 'tinged' as they went past me. Now, they NEVER do that in the South East of England. I know they got the wrong day, but it is a start.
