Invitation to Exhibit: Herzl Face to Face
Students of Museology studies, faculty of Humanities at Haifa University, Israel, will exhibit works of art and design that deal with the image of Herzl, in an exhibit tilted Herzl Face to Face. The opening will be held at the Passage Gallery of the main building of the University on Tuesday, the first of July, 17:00. The Exhibition will end on 5 August 2008.
Theodor Binyamin Ze'ev Herzl (May 2, 1860 – July 3, 1904) is considered the founding father of the State of Israel. His image appears on countless works of art, starting from about 1900 until today. The exhibition will deal with the changes of attitudes towards the image of Herzl from admiration to criticism.
Among the participating artists: E.M. Lilien, Boris Shatz, Paul Kor, David Tartakover, Menashe Kadishman, Dror Auslander, Hayim Shtayer, Avner Bar Hama.
