iPhone App Store Tops 1.5 Billion Downloads

The iPhone App Store just topped 1.5 billion downloads. 1.5 BILLION! And that's with hardly any real adult content at all.
Of course, with more than 650,000 different apps, ranging from the the useless to the awesome, iPhone addicts have a broad range of crack at their disposal.

"The App Store is like nothing the industry has ever seen before in both scale and quality," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "With 1.5 billion apps downloaded, it is going to be very hard for others to catch up."

It's not really about catching up, though, but about how video game developers address the growing smartphone market: keeping it fast and cheap can have its advantages. For your humble Truemorist, that's pretty much a way of life.
