iPhone MMS Not Working: MMS for iPhone Has a Rocky Launch
Today's the day, y'all: MMS Update for the iPhone 3G, available on iTunes. Yes indeed, the iPhone finally joins the 20th Century and gets MMS in the USA, courtesy of Apple and a grumbling AT&T. However, on launch day, iPhone MMS is not working, according to complaints on AT&T's Facebook page. Kinda like when ED209 shoots up all the scientists in Robocop.
Steve Jobs, in his infinite wisdom, decried MMS (multimedia messaging service) to be legacy technology, swept aside by the march of the smartphones. There was just one teeny, tiny flaw in his logic, though: not everyone has a smartphone. So your non-smartphone friends aren't getting your cheeky photo messages... and they're not sending you theirs. It's not personal, though. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
I know that some are worried that the sudden introduction of MMS will crash AT&T's network, since early testing uncovered some server crashes, but that says a lot more about AT&T than it does about MMS, which has been around since the iPhone's target demographic was in junior high.
"We’ve been working for the past several months to prepare our systems and network to ensure the best possible experience with MMS when it launches," the AT&T press release reads. "We know that iPhone users will embrace MMS. The unique capabilities and high usage of the iPhone’s multimedia capabilities required us to work on our network."

Multimedia messaging service has finally come to the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS. Iphone users in the country will surely be glad about this news. Apple and AT&T are rolling out the long awaited iPhone MMS service on Friday, September 25th, as a free service. The hitch is that it's only available for owners of the iPhone 3G – 1G and 2G users will be out of luck. It has been lamented for a long time that the iPhone doesn't have a multimedia messaging service, but it does now. The only unfortunate drawback is this is going to make iPhone owners even more sanctimonious – and they get annoying. SO no need for iPhone owners to wait for their tax resolution checks from the government – they now get free multimedia messages with the iPhone MMS.

Well, it really is about time! Shame about the teething problems but I guess good things come to those who wait.
