The Island Story - Celebrating 50 Years of Melodious Music
Island Records is the record label that gave us so many superstars in one album. To name a few: Bryan Ferry, Jimmy Cliff, Bono, Bob Marley and the Wailers, Lord Creator, Millie, The Spencer Davis Group, Cat Stevens, Free, Roxy Music, Grace Jones, U2 and The Killers.
The record label that brought Bob Marley, Roxy Music and U2 to the world's attention has turned 50 - and as part of the celebrations a month-long exhibition, Island Life, is opening in London on Friday 22 May.
Here - with the help of archive interviews with Island Records' founder Chris Blackwell, and artists including Bryan Ferry, Jimmy Cliff and Bono - we have dug through the label's back catalog to tell the Island story.
The audio rendition at the site is a small testament to the wonderful music that has been presented to us over the years, the most prominent ones being U2 and Bob Marley.

Heard a lot of U2 and some of Bob Marley too, but was not aware of this association. Congratulations.
