Oy Division, one of the very few bands in Israel performing old traditional Jewish music, will give two performances in Hanoi on May 12 and 13.
This is the highlight of the celebration of 15th anniversary of Israel-Vietnam diplomatic relations and Israel’s 60th anniversary.

“In celebration of the 60th anniversary of Israel’s Independence and the 15th anniversary of Israel-Vietnam diplomatic relations, Oy Division, one of the few bands in Israel, will play traditional Jewish music”, said the Israeli Embassy to Hanoi.

The Israeli art troupe will perform at Melia Hotel on May 12 and Youth Theatre on May 13. During the stay in Hanoi, on May 13, Israeli artists will also attend an advanced class at the Hanoi Music of Conservatoire.

Oy Division is considered a “traveling museum”, recreating and bringing back to life the nearly extinct pre-world war II Jewish music which is a blend of Jewish wedding music, folk songs and songs from the Yiddish Theatre. Their melodies are a mix of sorrow and joy.
