Clark Gable III, actor Clark Gable's grandson was stabbed at a party in Calabasas, California. Gable was hospitalized for a week due to a lung injury, upi.com reports. One suspect has been arrested and police investigation is still underway.

The fight reportedly involved several party guests and started after Gable allegedly insulted someone.

As a result of the attack, Clark Gable the 1930s Hollywood actor is in the news. Gable starred in movies such as It Happened One Night, The Misfits and Gone With the Wind.

It Happened One Night was directed by Frank Capra and starred Gable opposite Claudette Colbert. The film laid down many conventions for the modern romantic comedy:

1)the distraught and naive heroine on the run, 2) male hero tagging along as protector, 3) conflict between the two, 4) improvised sleeping arrangements fraught with sexual tension, 4) a falling out between the lovers where the woman leaves, 5) woman pursued by the man and what follows is a happy ending (marriage). Sound familiar?

The film is arguably the most well-remembered role Gable played.
