IWD in Vancouver - A Century of Women and Work opens March 8

Sistahood Celebration 2009 is proud to present as part of its International Women's Day - and month's - events, the art exhibit, "A Woman's Place is Everywhere! A Century of Women and Work".

The exhibition opens with a reception on March 8, International Women's Day that will feature as a  special guest, Oakland, California artist and community activist Favianna Rodriguez.

Among the 11 Canadian female artists who contributed to "A Century of Women and Work" is Tania Willard, a member of the Secwepemc Shuswap Nation.

A Century of Women & Work - A powerful collection of 11 visual art works by contemporary Canadian artists, including BC’s Tania Willard.
This will be the first time this exhibit, produced by Workers Arts & Heritage Centre, has been shown in BC. With opening reception, and a Community Dialogue.
The Community Dialogue will feature Favianna Rodriguez.
Hear how Oakland’s Eastside Arts Alliance Center provides an inspiring model that combines a community centre, cultural programs for youth, a media arts collective and social housing

"A Century of Women and Work" is a collaborative production of the Ontario Federation of Labour and the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre, undertaken for International Women's Day 2007.
