P & L Recording artiste Selah is one of the frontrunners of a brand new genre, one which the critics have dubbed reggae-soul. One of his latest songs, ‘Lonely Girl’ is a refreshing gem of a song which is already generating major buzz on local FM radio stations in Jamaica and overseas.
“Reggae soul is a new genre that is set to take over the world, it’s powerful,” Selah said.
“The response I am getting in the streets is great, I give thanks to ZIP, and IRIE, Big A, Chris Supreme, GT, Sunshine, Elise Kelly, everybody ah give me the justice,” he said. “The people dem tek on to this song, dem think it’s better than even ‘Think About It’. Ras Kassa will be shooting the video for this song next week Sunday, so just look out for the ‘Lonely Girl’ video from Selah.”
He has sparked interest of international acts and recently did a collaboration with O. Sparks on a song called ‘What Do You Want From Me?’ about a girl who keeps blowing up his phone after she violated the relationship.
“It’s an interesting concept, almost like she wants back in after she caused the relationship to end,” he said.
He will be performing on the Asylum anniversary show on November 25th at Mas Camp, and he is one of the feature acts on the P & L-produced ‘No Violence in School tour’. He will also be at this year’s Sting show at Jam World in Portmore.
His name breathes spirituality. Selah is a Hebrew word meaning "pause, reflection", within the context of a prayer or psalms, is similar in purpose to amen in that it stresses the importance of the preceding passage. This word occurs seventy-one times in thirty-nine of the Psalms.
Selah takes his chosen role in music very seriously.

Born Chevan Gaunlette Clarke on October 5, 1976 at Brunswick Avenue in the old capital of Spanish Town, Selah started singing at very young age. His talent was rewarded when in 1992 he enter and won the semi finals of the popular Taste Talent contest with the cover “ When I See You Smile” since then he has not looked back and has continue to pursue his dreams of becoming a renowned recording artiste.
This humble but strong personality has toured with internationally acclaimed artistes Wayne Wonder and collaborated and performed with Miss Dynamite at her debut concert at the Brixton Academy after recording a duet with her called “Unite”.
“I am just giving thanks right now to Jah, I like the direction that my career is heading in, and I have lots of music left in me, reggae-soul is going to be the next big thing,” he said.
