James 'JT' Thomas, Jr. Wins Survivor: Tocantins
The 24-year-old Alabama-resident James "J.T." Thomas, Jr., became the winner of the CBS reality show Survivor: Tocantins, claiming $1,000,000 in prize money and additional $100,000 for being voted the Sprint Player of the Season by the show fans. He defeated corporate consultant Stephen Fishbach in a unanimous vote.
The season finale of Survivor Tocantins aired yesterday on CBS. The show premiered on February 12, opening 18th season of the reality show, and drew over 13 million viewers. Survivor Tocantins – The Brazilian Highlands was shot in Jalapão region in Tocantins, Brazil.
Other Survivor contestants this season include Carolina Eastwood, Candace Smith, Jerry Sims, Sandy Burgin, Spencer Duhm, Sydney Wheeler, Joe Dowdle, Brendan Synnott, Tyson Apostol, Sierra Reed, Debra "Debbie" Beebe, Benjamin "Coach" Wade, Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George, Erinn Lobdell, and Stephen Fishbach.
The next installment of Survivor is set to be filmed in Samoa, an island country in the South Pacific Ocean.
CBS rapped up it’s 18th season of “Survivor” entitled “Survivor : Tocantins” tonight (5-17-09),and the seven “Survivor” tribe peer members voted James “J.T.” Thomas Jr. to be the winner of the 18th installment of “Survivor” which was set in the rugged interior of Brazil. The show began with 16 players,and slowly but surely made it’s way down to the final two which consisted of James Thomas and New Yorker Stephen Fishbach on tonight’s finale.
At the end of the show they showed a preview of where the 19th installment of Survivor would take place. They confirmed that it will take place in Samoa. So all you die hard “Survivor” fans have that to look forward to.
When asked what he was going to do with the money, J.T. said he was going to try and make more money with it. He alluded to a partnership with his Survivor partner in crime and second runner-up, New Yorker Stephen Fishbach.

Back in Alabama, “JT” Thomas Jr. operates a registered Angus Cattle Ranch. He is a southern charmer, but gets fired up when people insult his intelligence and says “I’m not a dumb hillbilly, so don’t think it!” JT is the first person to graduate from college in his family, so there is no denying he is a smart cookie. He attended Troy University and earned a Bachelors Degree in business administration.
True to his southern roots, JT is a family man who values his relationships and proved that by taking his ally, Stephen, to the end. For all you single ladies out there, JT is single and ready to mingle!
