Memories of Michael Jackson dominated the 2009 BET Awards on June 28 but one tribute has bloggers a little worked up... the Jamie Foxx moonwalkWas a moonwalk in full MJ Thriller regalia a fitting tribute to the King of Pop?  Some say no way...

Hosting Sunday's BET Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Foxx walked on stage dressed as an 80s era Jackson - complete with the gloves - as "Beat It" blared in the background. He shouted for the audience to clap their hands.

Saying he was there to honor Jackson, Foxx said "It don't matter what he looked like ... what his nose looked like ... it was what he sounded like."

"C'mon," he yelled, "for Michael."

(Comment)110. I was really looking forward to the tribute to MJJ on the BET awards. The show, with a couple of minor exceptions, was a TOTAL disappointment and embarrassment! Jamie Foxx was crass, nasty, not funny and disrespecful. The show was unorganized and painful to watch. The Drake/Lil Wayne performance was vulger and talentless. Beyonce'? I love you, but what the hell was that? Tributes to OJays, the last song, and Neyo's solo were the ONLY thing worth watching. Michael Jackson gave us so much music and this was his HONOR? No Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, Quincy Jones, Whitney Houston, Motown...not even a message from those who knew him best? A WASTE. PLEASE DO NOT LET FOXX HOST ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT THAT VULGAR SIRRUS RADIO SHOW.

(Comment) 115. I don't know why anyone expected BET to make a proper trubute to MJ. BET is a disgrace to black people in general. im a 20 year old black and i can tell you BET is doing more harm than good to black people. BET started off as a positive channel for blacks. it had informative programs and things. but now it's just a bunch of ghetto mess.

And Jamie Foxx is so arrogant. I mean the dude swore he had MJ's moves down pack. He just made himself look like a fool.

What is it about Jamie Foxx's Moonwalk-y homage to Michael Jackson at last night's BET Awards that's not sitting 100 percent right with me? Maybe there's a little too much "Look how awesome I am!" in the mix for a tribute to a superstar who died only a few days prior. Maybe it's the fact that Jamie trips over himself at the :32 mark, then proceeds to deliver the remainder of his steps with a side order of the lackluster. Or maybe I'm just feeling nitpicky because it's 11 a.m. and my stomach is already growling for lunch. (Settle down, tumtee...you'll get yours!)

Not only was the Jaime Foxx moonwalk tribute of questionable taste, it was poorly done, and this seems to be the thing most upsetting to Jackson fans.  While Jaime Foxx was undoubtedly coming from a place of honor and respect when he decided to re-enact Michael Jackson's jaw dropping 1983 Grammy Award performance of Billie Jean, the fact that he did it so badly could be called an abomination.

Note to Jaime Foxx: If you are going to do a tribute to the King of Pop using his signature moonwalk move you had better get it right!

listen don't let the press fuck with ya head like that. thas what the press is for! and i see they are sucessful at it! They tried to destroy Mike with bad press because he was bigger than any other entertainer in the world and he was black. If you didn't know him personally, then you don't know at all

Michael J. did a lot to heal the racial divide in America.  Millions of americans of various races loved to watch him perform, and he seemed to be a really pleasant personality. If you really want to see something outrageous, check out the Yahoo!Buzz blog below!  It's horrible to see a man apparently ruined for doing what is right!  And THAT, involving allegedly being told to NOT hire too many blacks and to keep blacks separated at work! (And the poor man that stood up against it is white!)
