Jani Lane Dead: Warrant Singer Found in Hotel Room
Jani Lane Dies at 47
Jani Lane, best known as the lead singer of Warrant, was found dead in a Comfort Inn hotel room in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles on the evening of August 11.
Jani Lane, born John Kennedy Oswald, struggled with alcoholism, and had a string of DUIs over the course of the past few years. Vodka and prescription medication were found in Jani Lane's hotel room, and, pending an autopsy, police are treating the death as an accidental overdose.
Warrant was a successful glam metal band whose heyday came in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Warrant's debut album, Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich, cemented them in the hair-metal firmament.
Warrant's follow-up album, "Cherry Pie", featured the lewd single of the same name, which Jani Lane famously wrote in 15 minutes on the back of a pizza box.
Warrant had released eight albums. Jani Lane releases one solo album in 2002, and toured as the replacement singer for Great White in 2010.
