Japan’s Earthquake and Tsunami – Is It A Sign of the End and Judgment of God? Ardmore Oklahoma – 15/03/2011 -Is Japan’s Earthquake A Sign That the End is Near? Don K. Preston, D. Div., President of PRI (Preterist Research Institute) two days ago, released a video in response to those concerned about the end of the world. Many are asking if the events in Japan are divine visitations from God as signs of an imminent end of the world. Preston’s video offers alarmed and concerned viewers a Biblical perspective on the meaning of those events.
Mr. Preston has held numerous public debates, lectures and workshops and authored over 19 books on end times themes including some very popular titles, “The Last Days Identified,” “ Who Is This Babylon?”. He authored the very first preterist commentary on 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18: "We Shall Meet Him In The Air, The Wedding of the King of Kings. His websites are www.eschatology.org and www.bibleProphecy.com.
Preston’s video begins with a passionate plea and prayer for the people in Japan and those affected around the world. Then he methodically builds his case from the canon of God’s prophetic teachings.
Many end times preachers are already using news media attention of Japan’s unfortunate earthquake and Tsunami with its ongoing aftershocks, as God’s judgment upon Japan for profit and personal gain. Tim LaHaye claims that he sees the Bible all over the events in Japan. Dr. Preston strongly challenges these claims, based on the premise that God never judged his people on such magnitude without first giving them adequate warning through His prophets.
Dr. Preston’s video offers a step by step, careful but succinct analysis of God’s method and timing of judgments, enumerating the actual signs found in the scriptures, showing those things are in the past not our future. His analysis has turned futurist prophecy paradigms promoted by Dispensational preachers and their loyal supporters on their head saying the catastrophe in Japan absolutely is not an end times judgment according to the scriptures.
A tidal wave of backlash and comments on the video occurred as a result. Particularly Dispensational preachers who subscribe to views popularized and promoted by Dr. Thomas Ice, Dr. Tim LaHaye, Hal Lindsay, Jack Van Empe, Harold Camping and others are livid in their denunciation of Preston. Little wonder: Preston’s insights are a direct challenge and very real danger to their views of the end times. Historically, these men cite such natural events, including global wars as signs of the end, but to date their prophecies have all failed.
Mr. Preston offers solid reasons why those predictions always fail. Those who see the events in Japan as signs of the end immediately began voicing their complaints with Preston’s video, Is Japan’s Earthquake A Sign That the End is Near? . Yet, an increasingly number of people are finding Preston’s use of Scripture to be sound, logical, appealing and reassuring.
