Oprah will Interview Jay Leno Thursday, where they'll discuss Conan O'Brien and The Tonight Show blow up.

In the teaser for the Oprah interview, Jay Leno says, "This whole thing was a huge mess." This will be Leno's first one-on-one interview since Conan wrapped up his final Tonight Show last week.  Winfrey, a close friend of Leno, flew to L.A. to pre-tape the interview.

Leno is probably trying to do damage control on an image that has taken quite a few hits in recent weeks. His return to The Tonight Show, and Conan's subsequent replacement, has angered many 'Conan' fans who see Leno as a villain in the whole ordeal.

Leno told Oprah he hasn't spoken to Conan since the situation started at NBC, saying he didn't think it was "appropriate".

Leno returns to The Tonight Show on March 1st.

Leno should just keep quiet about this.

Unfortunately for Mr. Leno and his bosses at NBC,  this story just won't go away. And their endless explanations don't seem to help much, either.

For any readers too young to recall - or maybe just not interested in late night TV history - it might help your perspective on the current Leno vs O'Brien mess to read some background on the original Leno vs Letterman feud. Here's the full story of how Jay Leno took over the 'The Tonight Show' hosting gig from long-time host Johnny Carson, way back in 1993.
