Jay-Z, Alicia Keys Bring Down The Bronx and World Series
Is this the coolest thing to ever happen at a World Series game? I honestly cannot think of another more beautifully sincere moment in WS history that could top what we just saw tonight, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' live performance of "Empire State of Mind" before game 2 of the World Series.
Look, I'm not talking about crazy plays, or crazy earthquakes, or weird things that have already happened. Anybody who is into hiphop and love baseball were treated to something so special, we'll be talking about this moment for years to come.
You gotta realize that I'm a huge Yankee hater, and an Alicia Keys hater, so for me to gush about her incredible performance at new Yankee Stadium is something that I'm rather reluctant to admit.
Oh, how I wish I were sitting in the bleachers, watching Jay-Z wear a stylish-ass leather navy Yankee jacket, on a cool autumn New York night, just absolutely rip it on the mic. I so wish I were there. "Yeah i made the Yankee hat more famous than a Yankee game," Jay-Z rapped.
The expressions on the players' faces told the whole story. I've never seen grown men smile so big before such a huge WS game, never ever. Did you see the closeups of Mariano Rivera, the greatest closer of all-time smiling, in awe of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' abilities to move the crowd?
Alicia Keys was hot, and Jay-Z was hotter. Yo, this performance really solidifies why there's no place like New York.
Hey, I highly recommend the MLB.com link because it offers an HD version of the entire Jay-Z and Alicia Keys performance. Word is bond.
"As a die-hard Yankees fan, I'm honored to perform a song that celebrates the greatness of New York in one of our city's most important landmarks, Yankee Stadium," Jay-Z said in a press release.
