Jay-Z's New Single 'D.O.A.' Declares 'Death of AutoTune'

Jay-Z's new single "D.O.A." hit the internet late on Friday to much acclaim and Twitter-love.

But it's a bit ironic that Hova's new single "D.O.A." is not an acronym for 'Dead on Arrival' but instead a bold declaration hailing the "Death of AutoTune".

The maligned, if ubiquitous, vocal effect has been a staple of pop, hip-hop, and R&B hits since Cher first passed the baton to T-Pain who popularized it before telling other artists not to use it while paving the way for Kanye West to produce an entire album using its highly dubious warbling tremble.

So, perhaps, it comes as no surprise that Jay-Z's latest hip-hop smash is produced by someone who nearly perfected the effect's use before decrying its death — you guessed it, the track was produced by none other than Kanye West.

Hip-hop irony abounds. But hopefully the AutoTune won't...any longer.

The single is rugged, raw, and a hot return to form for this hip-hop heavyweight.

Check the mp3: Jay-Z - "D.O.A. (Death of AutoTune)" for evidence.

Jay-Z's much-anticipated new album Blueprint 3 will be released on September 11th.

Bomba Clat, Jigga is still at his best. I hooked up on the Jay-Z vids page with his old school hip hop rhymes and great rapping lyrics.

You sure Kanye Produced that?  He says "NO I.D. on the track" in the chorus.

Dead On Arrival. Michael Jackson was declared D.O.A. Was Michael sacrificed to promote the new rising star of the illuminati entertainment industry: Jay-Z ?

Come on now. A lot of artists have spoken out against Jay-Z, so I'm not surprised.

And yes he says No ID produced the song, not Kanye West. No ID was influencial in the career start of a lot Chicago artists, but that ain't Kanye on the beat.
