Oscar winning actress Jennifer Hudson's mother is one of two people found dead in a house on the South Side of Chicago.

A representative from the family's church, Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist, confirmed that Darnelle Hudson Donerson was one of the victims. The other, was a man.

The shooting is believed to be domestic.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office has been notified of the deaths of two people from a home at the address, but additional information is unavailable.

Hudson became famous after appearing on "American Idol" in 2004. She went on to win an Oscar for her performance in the film "Dreamgirls."

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The bodies of two people were found in a home Friday afternoon on the city's South Side. Property records reveal the house belongs to the mother of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson.

A family member has told Jennifer Hudson's pastor that the mother of the Oscar-winning actress is one of the victims, Darnell Hudson Donerson.

The discovery was made just before 3 p.m. Friday afternoon, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The home where the bodies were discovered is at 7019 S. Yale in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood
