Hey, all that hair gel isn't cheap, you know. That's why it's believed that the Jersey Shore cast is asking MTV for a substantial raise to return for Season 2 of their hit reality show. According to TMZ, a Season 2 of Jersey Shore could cost MTV a pretty penny as cast members hope to get as much as $10,000 an episode to drink, hook up, and get into bar fights. It's believed that the Jersey Shore cast made just a few hundreds dollars per episode for the first season of the series.
Now, the tables have turned and The Situation, Snooki, and J-Woww et al actually hold some leverage over the suits at MTV.
A source close to the crew told us, "They want $10,000 an episode, arguing that the stars from 'The Hills' get $100,000 per episode and that show doesn't even rate as high. They're hanging together like the cast of 'Friends' and saying if they don't all get the pay increase, none of them will return."
There's plenty of reasons for MTV execs to think that the Jersey Shore cast might be worth the money. Thursday's Jersey Shore finale drew nearly 5 million viewers.
Of course, the Jersey Shore cast has found other sources of revenues. Cast members earn as much as $10,000 a night to make personal appearances at nightclubs
