Jessica Simpson has a Michigan meltdown

Thursday night in Michigan Jessica Simpson opened for Rascal Flatts, but just barely. After garnering some unwanted press over her noticeable weight gain, Simpson stumbled her way through an unfortunate performance forgetting lyrics, fighting back tears, and pausing mid-song to apologize.

At one point, she had her seven-piece band stop, then start over, during the up-tempo "Pray Out Loud."

After that, she forgot the lyrics to her single "Come on Over," causing her to apologize to the audience.

Things got so bad that, while introducing her closing song, "Do You Know," the singer said there have been times when she felt like walking off the stage -- "like tonight."

Simpson is scheduled to continue her tour with her next stop in Champaign Illinois today. We will have to see what drama awaits this next performance...

I wonder how Simpson fans feel post-performance; mildly entertained, compassionately sympathetic, or severely ripped off?
