Local author Rex Weyler has deconstructed one of the most highly constructed figures in human history, Jesus. His new book, The Jesus Sayings: The Quest for His Authentic Message, Anansi Books, reads like an adventure story, as the Vancouver-based author seeks to decipher the meaning of original texts to identify the true core message of the most famous man ever to have been condemned to a cross.

"Part of why I wrote this book was to come to grips with why people use religion for violence," Weyler said.
