JK Rowling's ‘Beedle The Bard’ Hits Stores
Muggles, rejoice: JK Rowling's newest literary offering, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, has hit the stores.
The tome began life as a plot point in the final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. This is the mass-market offering, though a friends-of-Rowling-only printing (seven copies, actually) is out in the wild.
"The Tales of Beedle the Bard," a new book of fairy tales written and illustrated by Rowling, goes on sale Thursday for $12.99, with a first printing of 3.5 million.
The version to be available in stores, Levine said, comes with commentary by Albus Dumbledore, and “he has quite a lot to say, about the historical context of these tales within the wizarding community and personal anecdotes, like when some of these tales [such as 'The Fountain of Fair Fortune'] were performed as plays at Hogwarts.” Hogwarts having a dramatics department? News to us!
The Telegraph has a review, if such a thing would sway you one way or the other.
Hardcore fans already know this, but Snitchseeker already has forums set up for Tales of Beedle the Bard.

I wonder if it will would have the same impact if the author's name was not associated with HP, I personally did not like the last two volumes of HP to much yet the first was excellent and the only one I ended up buying. The rest can remain in libraries only.

I don't think it would have had the same impact... it would have been more interesting if Beedle were a work of fanfic.
(I liked the 1st and 3rd books best, and found the final installment to be somewhat slow)
