John Edwards Baby Drama: DNA Confirms Paternity of Daughter
The John Edwards baby drama has finally reached closure with a DNA test confirming the paternity of former mistress Rielle Hunter's daughter. The DNA test proves what Reille Hunter has claimed all along, that John Edwards is the father of 18-month old baby Frances.
The news of John Edwards' affair with Reille Hunter was devestating to his wife Elizabeth Edwards, but she stood by him through the scandal. Elizabeth Edwards, who is now facing terminal cancer, must be reliving the nightmare of her husband's infidelity with this latest news.
A secret DNA test has just confirmed the news that Edwards has been denying for some time.
Edwards is now officially the biological dad to 18-month-old baby girl Frances as a result of an affair he had with his then campaign videographer, Reille Hunter.
Looks like someone's gonna have to start paying child support! Cuz that's what this all boils down to, right? Money!
Hunter was spotted entering a federal courthouse in North Carolina last week where she spent nine hours inside.
Apparently she had agreed to testify to a federal grand jury that baby daddy John paid her hush-hush money and broke campaign finance law by doing so.

If he had just owned up from the beginning, we would have liked him more! But I'm glad now we know who the father is.

I'm not saying this to be snarky, but what differnce does it make to "us" who this baby's father is? What is it going to change for "us"? Why could this information not stay private between the parties it concerns?
Edwards political aspirations are in the toilet where they belong. Being caught sneaking into a hotel late at night, where a former campaign worker who happens to be female and happens to have a brand new baby, is staying; told "us" everything we needed to know about the man who wanted "us" to believe he deserved to be the next leader of the most formidable country in the world.
Had he been an honorable man who had nothing to hide he would have walked in thru the front door in broad daylight. Of course if he had been an honorable man there would have been no baby and no reason to be at the hotel in the first place.

Exactly!!!What differnce does it make? It's not our child. His wife is the one that has to bear all of this.

There is an ex presidential candidate that could end up doing time. I feel for his wife and parents, not to speak of his children. Why do politicians think they can get away with this stuff?

This just sucks in a big way. Initially Reille denied his paternity, couldn't this have remained a private issue between 2 conscenting adults, while one of those adults tries to do everything possibile to make ammends to his spouse who is currently dealing with terminal cancer and probably doesn't have a whole lot of time left.
I guess it just goes to prove when selfish people commit selfish acts, the fallout is going to reach far and wide. And continue to cause pain and suffering to all those innocents who happened to be in their path. They both make me sick.
Mrs. Edwards you and your children have my deepest sympathy. You have remained a true gentlewoman and a lady as this crap has flown in your general vicinity. Most women would not have been strong enough to battle cancer and the fallout of their very public spouses very public screw up. You have been a wonderful role model to your children on how to show selfless love. My prayers are with you and your children.

Edwards is such a snake, but he still would have been a better president than what we ended up with. How do we end up with such awful politicians?

Had this been France Edwards having a love child with some staffer wouldn't have even made the news. Rather, the baby would be widely acknowledged as his and he would have paid Hunter for child support. End of story. But here in the U.S. it becomes a big soap opera. Stop. What we see with the Edwards family is real life. It happens more than you think. People lose children, get cancer, have affairs, have out-of-wedlock children., etc. So what? Let them live without us judging them.

They can go on living, just not in the White House. I personally don't want a dishonest cheater to be my President. Character counts!

I always knew this jerk was lying. He tried to portray confidence, saying he would take a paternity test to prove he could not possibly be the father. He claimed he no longer was cheating on his wife when the baby was conceived. I pictured him contacting his mistress to tell her "Whatever you do, don't agree to have the baby tested!"

I think when the investigation is completed as to campaign money abuse that John Edwards will be found guilty . . . he has violated all the ethics in regard to use of campaign funds. He will likely be fined some substantial amount but not serve time, as he should, because he has young children (other than Frances) and a terminally ill wife and he will play that card to hilt. He needs to be out to care for Elizabeth and their minor children. He is one person that should have the book thrown at him. He has hurt more people than he has a right to hurt. There will be scars for his three children with Elizabeth and I hope they never forgive him what he did to their mother. Stress is thought to accelerate health issues and how can the birth of an illegitimate child do anything push the stress to the limit. Elizabeth and her children need all the prayers you can share.
