John Georges announced today that he will enter New Orleans Mayor's Race 2010. The shipping tycoon with greek ancestry ran for Governor of Louisiana but was defeated by Republican Bobby Jindal. Troy Henry a New Orleans business man is also running and has well known actor Wendell Pierce as his campaign manager. Pierce grew up in New Orleans and went to Benjamin Franklin High School. He will started filming the HBO series Treme in New Orleans this month.

Better luck replacing Ray Nagin, an incompetent baffoon. I can't imagine how Georges lost to Jindal.

"Shipping Magnate" John Georges? Are you stupid or something?!? He's in the tobacco, candy, condom and snack food concession business, as well as the video poker gambling business. While he does indeed own two tugboats - they have been out of service for over 6 months because there's no business. And the tugboats are for sale... another soon to be defunt John Georges business. This guy can't run a candy store much less a city...

here's why i won't vote for you: i'm not at all interested in how many times landrieu ran for office or not; what i want to know is what can YOU can do for our city. we really need a competent and compassionate leader and so far the only thing you've demonstrated is an ability to be negative and focus on other candidates. step UP or step DOWN.
