It's official: John Mayer is the Jack Handey of Twitter.

The erstwhile blues-pop-body-of-Aniston-wonderland loving singing blogger is certainly one for occasional concision — but not one likely to be mistaken for a literary great. Nevertheless, Mister Mayer asked his more than 275,000 Twitter followers to seek inspiration from Ernest Hemingway and post six word stories to the social media site.

But not to be outdone by his digital entourage, Mayer took his first Hallmark step forward with this gag-inducing, poetic plunge into micro-brilliance: "This heart didn't come with instructions."

No, John. No it didn't.

And no one needed nor requested the follow-up positive affirmation that Mayer published today: "Be yourself today. Be wildly yourself."

Mayer's newly-minted...er...'Deep Tweets' seem well-poised to rival the essentially contradictory 'Deep Thought' wisdom long-espoused by the likes of Handey

Could this be Mayer's play at digital posterity? Be still our twittering hearts that any more people bare sad witness to John's post-Aniston tweeted pain.

It's no coincidence that Mayer is chest-deep at work on an appropriately over-the-top new tune that he's aptly dubbed (ahem) -- "Heartbreak Warfare".
