I wrote about the issue of wearing a keffiyah a while ago. Conclusion: it's not a big deal. However, I suspect that the Republican base will feel differently.
An email tipster and patriot hero checked out the John McCain family blog linked earlier, and found his campaign has been infiltrated at the deepest level by enemies of America. It seems Meghan McCain, daughter of the Republican presidential candidate, is into the keffiyeh, scarf of Middle Eastern Precious Freedoms Haters, and even wears it on the so-called Straight Talk Express, and also in the presence of her apparent sympathizer mom Cindy McCain! Republicans of course will murder McCain for all this, because they are fashion whores who know the keffiyeh is so over. Two more Islamofascist propaganda shots from McCainBlogette.com after the jump.

Ryan, shouldn't this be labelled as satire? Or opinion?

I wish people were only l/10 as sensitive and concerned about the appropriation of Native American  ceremonies, sacred  objects, and cultural icons, especially that going on with the New Age movement over the last 20 or so years. Seems like everyone';s doing bogus sweat lodges, ridiculous "talking stick" or "drumming" circles, waving cedar around, or what not. But no one (except us) cares: we're only Indians, we're (supposedly) just about gone anyway, yadda yadda.

Why would you think this is satire?

And I don't think it's opinion. It was a report on what she was wearing and a speculation as to the political fallout of that fact. But I appreciate your point as it could be interpreted as Opinion, especially the tone of the excerpt from Gawker. In that case, I'll add the tag.

You don't think the cross pollination of cultural iconography is positive when it is respectful?

The purple keffiyeh, of course, shows affiliation with the FFLP (Fabulous Front for the Liberation of Palestine).
