Forty-six-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp arrived in Serbia for the Kustendorf International Film and Music Festival in Mokra Gora where he was honoured by getting a life-size statue, which many thought had little resemblance to the star. Yet, Depp seemed to be honored and posed with his wax replica.

Depp will star in a new movie about Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa to be directed by famous Serbian movie director Emir Kusturica. During his stay in Serbia, Depp will lead workshops at the festival and visit locations where his next movie will be shot.

But, Depp is not the first Western celebrity to get a statue in ex-Yugoslavia.

In November, a statue of former U.S. President Bill Clinton was erected in Kosovo, a breakaway Serbian republic. Like Depp, Clinton was present at the unveiling of his 11-foot statue. Clinton launched the bombing campaign against Yugoslavia in 1999, which eventually earned Kosovo its independence.

Chinese American actor Bruce Lee also had a statue erected in his honour in Bosnia four years ago.
