Jon Gosselin Gives Away the Family Dogs, Shoka and Nala (photos)
Jon Gosselin has done the unthinkable by animal lover standards - despite his divorce from Kate and having to raise the eight children apart, he is giving away the family German Shepherds Shoka and Nala, and sending them back to the breeder.
See photos of Jon's last moments with the dogs before they are taken away.
Jon has been telling friends that it is Kate's fault he has to get rid of the dogs, as she won't take care of them when he is not at the house.
"Jon blames Kate for having to give up the dogs," a source close to the situation told RadarOnline.com exclusively. "Of course, these days Jon blames Kate for just about everything."
The Humane Society of Berks County, Pa, where the Gosselins live, have received complaints about the treatment of the animals. When the dogs were just puppies, Jon had this to say:
We understand the esponsibilities of being good dog owners. Whenever my kids are with Shoka and Nala, everyone is carefully supervised to ensure that no one - dog or child - is injured. Shoka and Nala are loyal companions who we consider members of our family. We would never do anything to hurt them, and treat them with the respect and love that they deserve."
(as someone whose parents have two German Shepherds, I just hope that the dogs are rehoused together as they should not be separated when they have grown up together.)

I am a loyal follower of this show - I have enjoyed watching these children & yes I even liked Kate & John. Now I still like Kate but John is repulsive. Anyone who has ever watched this show realizes that he is not an assertive person. She is. She has to be. Someone has to keep the organization in that house or it would swallow them alive. Kate stepped up to the plate and filled that role & from what I could tell John gladly ran around & did the footwork. She has had outbursts on camera but spend a day in my house & you would see just as much or more. And I only have two children. I hope America can see now with the behavior he has exhibited how childish he really is. She commented one time how she doesn't have eight children she has nine, including him..... I understand. John is a womanizer &, by his own admission on ABC special with Chris, a child of parents whose own parents and relatives were alcoholics. Eight children from that bloodline are at risk of being alcoholics & that is scary. It is up to Kate to raise these children to the best of her ability with the knowledge of this increased risk. For a father to get on national television & say he despises the mother of his children is beyond comprehension. His relationship with his children is more important than any public perception he was attempting to improve. Kate has yet to speak poorly of him on any interview and for that she should be commended. Now he is blaming her for the dogs leaving. Step up to the plate John. Get an apartment close to the home, allow Kate to stay there primarily with the kids, visit them often & spend time with them and bring the dogs back..... that's what happens in the real world --- they need their mother as a constant in their life & you sir need to grow up.

The owner of the kennel where the pups were bred, has a large farm in upper state NY. He said the dogs will not be separated or resold. He is planning on keeping them together at his place up north.
Kate released a statement saying this is temporary. She needs some time to adjust and doesn't feel she has enough time to care for the dogs and everything else too.
If Jon was using his head for something besides holding on to his hair plugs he would have gotten a place in PA that was appropriate for his kids and enough room for his dogs.
While I don't agree with most things Kate does, I can understand feeling she doesn't have enough of her to go around, caring for 8 kids and 2 puppies. Even with help.
I got a divorce when my youngest was 1, plus I had 2 young school age kids. My ex seldom saw the kids, I worked full time. If my ex hadn't come and taken the dog, I would have had no choice but to give her away. As much as it broke my heart, it wouldn't have been fair to the dog to keep her and make her stay outside all alone 24/7.

I think they shouldn't have gotten the dogs in the first place. They are not responsible owners (especially Kate). Giving the dogs away!
