Joseph Cerniglia: 'Kitchen Nightmares' Chef Found Dead in River
Chef Joseph Cerniglia, Owner of Campania, Found Dead in Hudson River
Joseph Cerniglia, chef and owner of Campania, was found dead in New York's Hudson River. Joseph Cerniglia and his Fair Lawn, NJ restaurant were featured on a 2007 episode of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.
Joseph Cerniglia's body was found in the Hudson near W. 145th Street, on Spetember 24, shortly after a witness reported seeing someone jump from the George Washington Bridge. The NYPD is conducting an open investigation.
Should Joseph Cerniglia's death be ruled a suicide, it would not be the first by a chef who appeared on a show with Gordon Ramsay. In 2007, Hell's Kitchen competitor Rachel Brown shot herself to death in her parents' home.
During a 2007 episode of the reality show "Kitchen Nightmares," the celebrity chef told New Jersey restaurateur Joseph Cerniglia that his business was about to "swim down the Hudson."
