Moutache Man Unmasked as Joseph Waldo: Street Artist Arrested

Moustache Man has been busted in New York. Joseph Waldo has been unmasked as the guy who went around writing the word "moustache", in the shape of a moustache, on the faces on posters throughout the New York City subway system.

Joseph Waldo faces felony mischief and graffiti charges for his Moustache Man antics, which, considering the levels of vandalism present throughout New York, seems excessive. This is exacerbated by the fact that the police will have trouble figuring out which moustaches were drawn by Waldo, and which were drawn by imitators.

Earlier this year, Subway Art Blog interviewed the then-anonymous Moustache Man, who revealed that it takes about six seconds to properly 'tache a poster. Relatively new to the scene, Waldo described his above-ground street art as "stencil stuff out on the streets, nothing like the moustaches. Closer to Banksy or Faile, if Banksy or Faile cut really shitty stencils and had lots of drips and overspray".
