Julien Hug Dead: Bachelorette Contestant With Jillian Harris
Julien Hug, a Former Contestant on The Bachelorette Season with Jillian Harris, Has Been Found Dead in Riverside County
Police have now confirmed that the body found in a remote area off state Route 74 is that of 35-year-old Julien Hug.
According to signonsandiego, Hug was the son of prominent San Diego restaurateurs Bertrand Denise Hug and appeared on the popular TV show in 2009. He was also the host of the popular restaurant Mille Fleurs in Santa Fe.
A fellow contestant, Kiptyn Locke of Encinitas, said Wednesday night that he had just been informed of the death, and said it was “crushing news.” The two had stayed in touch since appearing on the show together, he said.
The cause of death has not yet been confirmed and police are not saying if it was suspicious or accidental.
Hug was reported missing on Monday after he was last seen leaving San Diego for Palm Desert to reportedly see his parent's new restaurant Augusta. He was supposedly going to run the restaurant, but the family had no comment on Thursday morning.
Locke said he was devastated by the news, and said Hug was “one of the most positive, standout people I have met. He was always trying to help other people.”
"From the very first time I met him, he was just a very selfless guy," Locke said.
