Kanye West Apologizes on Jay Leno: 'What Would Your Mother Think?
Kanye West publicly apologized about his behavior at the VMA Music Awards Sunday night on Jay Leno's Monday night premiere of his new talk show. Jay Leno brought out Kanye's apology by asking him what his mother would think of what he did.
Kanye was silent a long while before admitting to Leno that what he did was wrong. West reportedly was very close to his mother Donda, who died in November 2007, popeater.com reports. Although Kanye posted an apology to Taylor Swift on his blog, he said that he wanted to say he was sorry to Swift in person. West agreed that his mother would give him a lecture for what he did.
"It was rude, period," West said.
West said that he knew that he had been wrong when the crowd booed unanimously after he handed the microphone back to Swift after his 'rude, period' interruption. Kanye talked about how hard it has been for him after the incident:
"Yeah, it's been extremely difficult." He admitted to "just dealing with the fact that I hurt someone or took anything away, you know, from a talented artist or from anyone, because I only wanted to help people."
Kanye said that he snatched away Taylor Swift's microphone because he just wanted to do what was right:
"My entire life, I've only wanted to give and do something that I felt was right. And I immediately knew in the situation that it was wrong, and it wasn't a spectacle or just – you know, it's actually someone's emotions, you know, that I stepped on.
West also talked about his plans to take some time off after the incident and think about how he is going to improve himself and deal with his future (career?). He even implied that his behavior at the VMAs was because of not having enough down time as a musician:
"So many celebrities, they never take the time off," he said. "I've never taken the time off to really - you know, just music after music and tour after tour. I'm just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else's hurt.

Im sorry ,this is just bullcrap.... I've lost my parents also and alot of other loved ones, but it gives me nor anyone else any right to be outright malicious, hurtful, or disrepectful toward others. This is a young girl and he purposly stepped on her "moment in the sun." I'm not a big Swift fan but she did not deserve that. She works just as hard if not harder then he does at her career. I agree it is totally racially motivated, and that in the eyes of my Lord is a sin. Kanye needs to climb down off that mighty high ladder of his and realize why he has the things he has today. He has dissapointed a lot of fans who without them , he would not be....
