By now there isn't a person who hasn't heard of Kanye's rude outburst at the MTV Video Music Awards.  It certainly was an enormous controversy that made juicy headlines in the tabloids as well as major newspapers.  Now a few weeks have passed and I've had careful time to reflect (ok ok ok, I have not reflected on this much at all).  Who exactly is the loser coming out of this fiasco?

Winner number 1 is obviously Taylor Swift.  While the girl has a huge following in the country music world, many people still don't know who she is.  Of course, now almost everyone does.  Even my grandma (in her late 80s) now knows the name of Taylor Swift (or as she calls her "that nice young girl").

Jay Leno is also a huge winner in all this.  His new early evening show was expected to be a ratings nightmare (time will tell), but millions tuned in to see Leno's first show because Kanye West made a guest appearance.  However, it should be mentioned that this was one of the most awkward interviews of all time as Leno asked Kanye West how his dead mother would feel about this.  Sensing the awkwardness, Leno artlessly gave Kanye a tap on the leg.

Beyonce came out great as well.  Ironically, Kanye's rant was all for nothing since Beyonce won best video of the year anyways.  So basically, Beyonce won the top award of the night, got to look like the good girl by letting Taylor Swift "have her moment", and got to avoid giving a boring acceptance speech (one she's given probably a thousand times already).

MTV also comes out a winner.  The VMAs got all sorts of publicity out of it and it made the whole night interesting.

Lastly, and probably the only person who might not come out of this so well is Kanye West himself.  However, I have a feeling people will stop caring and get over it fairly quickly.  And of course, now the latest rumor is that Kanye West might enter rehab.  So now we can all feel sorry for him.

In the end, aren't we the general television/pop-culture-culture loving public the real winners in all this?  Were we not entertained?!
