Fresh from shaking up the UK charts and injecting a dose of Canadian hip hop fun with his hit single Dangerous featuring Akon, Canadian rapper Kardinal Offishall returns with his own version of The Paragons' The Tide Is High, a 40-year-old Jamaican jingle that was remade by pop act Blondie in 1980.

Numba 1 (Tide Is High) is available from February 2nd through Kon Live/Geffen Records and the track is produced by Sups Dups. Kardinal's version of the track brings the Jamaican jingle to a new dirty dancehall club level, and features a pulse-quickening hook sung by the stunning Keri Hilson.

Kardinal says of the track: "I wanted to deliver a single that you could play in the dirtiest dancehall club in a raw corner of Jamaica as well as a Hollywood socialite hangout."

Born Jason Harrow, Kardinal Offishall chose his stage name after the great 17th century French politician Cardinal Richelieu.

Kardinal Offishall is one of the few rap artists to have achieved acclaim outside his home country of Canada - one not immediately associated with this genre. Numba 1 (Tide Is High) is featured on Kardinal's album Not 4 Sale which is out now. The album features guest spots from Ne-Yo, Estelle, T-Pain and Clipse amongst others.
