Karl Lagerfeld's Printemps Christmas Display

Karl Lagerfeld, the famed fashion know-it-all and creative director of Chanel, has signed on to lend his voice to the animated movie Totally Spies.

Lagerfeld, head designer at French fashion brand Chanel, will feature as bad guy Fabu in the animated action film based on the long-running hit TV series about three high school girls who become secret agents, producer Marathon Media said on Wednesday.

The movie will open in France in July.

But this won't be Lagerfeld's first venture into the animated world, he was featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV as 'DJ Karl', an in-game radio DJ.

Lagerfeld is famous for not veering from high-culture so the news of his voice being used for a proletariate cartoon comes as a shock. He was notoriously quoted saying he regretted designing a collection for H&M as it could "taint his image."
