As tired Oasis bow out with a greatest British album award and a petulant appearance by Liam Gallagher at the 2010 Brit Awards Leicester band Kasabian step forward as 'Best British Group'

The band have not been the music media darlings but constant touring and anthemic songs have seen their fan base grow and grow. All in the music industry recognise the hard work and talent that's gone in to reaching the status of 'Best British Band' and the BRITs Award audience went wild at Kasabian's live performance of their hit 'Fire'.

In their hometown of Leicester they are true heroes with  Fire being played every time that soccer team Leicester City FC  score a goal and that was five times last Saturday as the Foxes put five goals past Scunthorpe United.

The demise of Oasis has left a vacancy at the top of British rock music. Many bands are striving to fill it, but in the past year Kasabian have emerged as the most likely contenders for their Manchester rivals' crown.

Oasis shouldn't have been at the top for so long, their peak was in the nineties.
