Russell Brand and Katy Perry Will Divorce after 14 Months of Marriage

Comedian and actor Russell Brand confirmed that he and pop star Katy Perry are getting a divorce. Russell Brand told the AP, "“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends."

Russell Brand, 36, and Katy Perry, 27, met at the 2009 MTV VMAs. They were married in Jaipur, India in October 2011.

The Katy Perry-Russell Brand divorce rumor gathered steam when photos of a bikini-clad Katy Perry, sans wedding ring, hit the web. Russell Brand, photographed in London, was not wearing his wedding band, either.

TMZ has a copy of the divorce petition, which was filed by Russell Brand. The reason given for the divorce: irreconcilable differences. Both Russell Brand and Katy Perry have denied that they would be getting a divorce, with sources close to both stars denying an impending divorce as recently as yesterday.
