Kellie Pickler to Marry Kyle Jacobs: Photo and Engagement Details

Kellie Pickler, Former American Idol Contestant, is Engaged to Songwriter Kyle Jacobs

Kellie Pickler and her musical boyfriend Kyle Jacobs are engaged and both say they could not be happier. Jacobs proposed last week on a beach in Florida and the timing could not have been more perfect as Pickler was struggling with the June 15 birthday of her late grandmother Faye Pickler.

Jacobs picked the perfect moment however and Pickler of course said yes.

"It turned out to be the most amazing day of my life," the fifth-season American Idol star, 23, tells PEOPLE. "My whole world changed. We both feel like we got my grandmother's blessing."

She tells People that she remembers saying:

"I remember saying to Kyle, 'Baby it's like I'm dreaming – but if this isn't real, I'm going to be very upset!' "

Jacobs arranged for a blanket, candles and a bottle of champagne to be placed on the beach while he and Pickler took a stroll. When she said yes this romantic scene was waiting for them.

"Afterward, we just held each other and had the most beautiful prayer," Jacobs says. "We had a little champagne and talked and laughed and cried."

Pickler has said that she could not be any happier than she is with Jacobs, whom she met about 2 and a half years ago. He has even helped her reconnect with her father Clyde Pickler who was in jail but has now been sober for about one year.

The couple have not yet announced a wedding date.
