Kelly Clarkson Self Cover: Magazine Digitally Sheds Pounds
Add her to the list, American Idol Kelly Clarkson is the latest celebrity to have a photo scandal but fear not, she's not showing enough skin or rather her real skin. Clarkson appears on the cover of the September issue of Self Magazine looking noticeably more svelte than usual, so svelte in fact that retouching is the only explanation.
Self Magazine Editor-in-Chief Lucy Danzige took to the magazine's blog to comment on the controversy.
Did we alter her appearance? Only to make her look her personal best. Did we publish an act of fiction? No. Not unless you think all photos are that. But in the sense that Kelly is the picture of confidence, and she truly is, then I think this photo is the truest we have ever put out there on the newsstand.
Danzige goes on to talk about how photo re-touching is good and how she herself used to swing by the magazine's art department to retouch her personal photos but now because of her fake-yet-more-aesthetically-pleasing photos she has more confidence in herself and no longer edits her pictures. I guess that means the path to self-confidence is built on lies digitally shaved thighs, according to Self Magazine at least.
