Kelly Ripa's announcement probably got soap fans in a bit of a lather (sorry). Kelly Ripa will return to All My Children for the long-running soap opera's 40th anniversary. Kelly Ripa's husband, Mark Consuelos, also a veteran of All My Children, will also return.

The All My Children 40th anniversary episode will air on January 5, 2010. TO be honest, I didn't know that Kelly Ripa was famous from All My Children. I just thought she was a talk-show host.

Ripa says "Live With Regis and Kelly" will air behind-the-scenes footage next month of the couple's return to Pine Valley.

What an insult to the word "culture" to list Kelly Ripa's announcement under it.

Well at least they didn't put Regis on there. Anyone who won't help his own son, shouldn't even be on TV.

Regis does have a son from a previous marriage. He doesn't talk about him much. His son is in a wheel chair. He has two daughters with his wife, Joy.

I have  been watching All My Children since I was 5 years old with my Mother, while my siblings were in school.  I am in my early 40's.  I have a neice (Tara). A  cousin Erica & I have a daughter  named (Natalie).  My, Natalie has my Grandaughter Kendall (2 years old). All named after characters on the ABC Soap.  I am a "HUGE FAN- LIFE LONG" !!!! & always will be.  I lost my sister tragically & My Aunt both, Them also with children & grandchildren with character names.  I watched the show with them both for decades, (Sometimes over the phone).  Now my daughter Natalie Has a daughter Kendall (2 years old) (The Legacy Lives On!!)& we all watch "All My Children" together.  When it comes on it is like a comforter we snuggle up too.  I love Kelly & Mark!  They are great & always will be to me.  Agnes Dixson will go down in my family histroy as a dear member.  Thanks for all the GREAT Moments & Memories AGNES!!!    My devotion always in the afternoon....Sheila Harris/Devoted AMC FAN FOR-EVER!!!!!

Anyone watching soap operas needs to GET A LIFE!  Good grief, the world is tumbling down, the economy is going bust, we have a war on and people are in need, as well as dying.  Quit watching TV!!!  Volunteer, at a hospital, library, school, anywhere that needs volunteers.  Go to a hospital and volunteer to read, or to a rest home, those people rarely get family members that visit them more than once a month.  Remember, you'll be old one day too.  GET UP AND GET GOING!  Ms. Ripa will do fine without all of you watching.  They are all overpaid anyway, and they give themselves awards.  How self-serving.  It's not like they put they life on the line every day, like the police or our wonderful military.

Who are you to tell people to get out and volunteer?  I bet you have shows that you watch every week, faithfully. Bet you like the nightime tv; its no better than soap operas.  My mom watched soaps for years, they were her only escape. My domineering father wouldnt let her work outside the home, let alone volunteer.  How did you have time to read this story, let alone the comments?  Why are you sitting on your can in front of a computer?  GO VOLUNTEER somewhere. I just despise holier than thou people who think they have the right to look down their noses at other people. I think you are the one who needs to GET A LIFE.

Your volunteer speech is noble.  I am an administrator at a "rest home" and yes our residents would love to have volunteers come visit, but please don't come in the middle of the day because our soap opera groups won't want to be interupted by your visit.  :-)

Little do you know, hard times are what made soap operas and stories of this type famous. During the depression when there was nothing positive to look forward to  people would direct their energy towards radio stories and every week they became something positive for the people to look forward to. They became an escape from the cruel reality and kept people's spirits high.  It's times like these when the world NEEDS entertainment.

IT IS WHAT IT IS

I feel that if you work, go to church and keep your life in good order...you can watch whatever you want whenever you want...Who are you peaple to juge others? Not your JOB!!!

oh really

You mention the economy going bust, yet you tell people to quit watching tv without a thought as to how that would affect all the behind the scenes people who make a moderate and honest living from the shows. About 200 people depend on the money they make on these productions and are not overpaid nor do they give themselves awards. What have you done to help educate people on why we need health care reform or better conditions for our military? You state that "you'll be old one day, too". Not if we don't pass healthcare reform. Perhaps YOU should spend more time writing to your congresspersons to lobby for solutions to our country's problems instaed of reading sites like this and pontificating on subjects of which you have little knowledge.

you are so pesimistic!  Why cant people do all the things you suggest and get lost in a little soap time.  besides if you have nothing nice to say, keep it to yourself.  what a Debbie Downer.

I agree with Buffy Wells.  Especially the part about the actors / entertainers getting overpaid (but I'm in favor of free-market, then so be it), and then giving themselves self-important "awards".  Dont know if the soap opera devotees get out much, but if not, take Buffy's advice, voluteer somewhere, work out at a local gym, go smell the roses :-)

Not a hyprocrit, with all that ranting you should be out volunteering instead of being on a message board.

I am sure I am not the only one who is in my 80"s and is disabled to the point that we cannot get out and help others, we are lucky to be able to walk with assistance.  For me my soaps are a distraction from the constant pain I am with every minute of the day and night.  I am looking forward to revisiting the beautiful pair of Mark and Kelly on AMC!
