Ken Ober Dead: Alas, It's True
Ken Ober might actually be dead. I don't know how these random celebrity death rumors start, but Ken Ober was both dead very much alive at the same time this morning, due to the magic of the web grapevine. However, this one turns out to be true, though details remain really vague. Ken Ober has passed away at age 52.
At first there was no real confirmation either way, but Paul Tompkins says that Ken Ober's friends confirmed it. That's good enough for Movieline, anyway. If your loyal Truemorist seems skeptical, he has two words for you: Chuck Biscuits. However, this time the rumor turned out to be true.
Ober's reps confirm that he passed away over the weekend at the age of 52. No other details were available late Monday morning.
Ken Ober was the host of MTV's seminal gameshow, Remote Control. He did some stuff after that, I think, but Remote Control was awesome. That was back when games shows on MTV were the exception rather than the rule. Good times.
Actually, Ken Ober is a producer for The Mind of Mencia (which I've never seen) and The New Adventures of Old Christine (which I've also never sen).

Unfortunately, you are wrong. Ken passed away from a heart attack.

This kind of thing is useless without any kind of attribution or source for your information. Talked to Ken on the phone since last night? Then let us know.

His facebook page is public, and it's very clear all his friends are mourning him.www.new.facebook.com/ken.ober?ref=search&sid=1241504035.1283798529..1#/ken.ober?v=wall&ref=search

A friend of mine just called Brillstein-Grey and they confirmed that Ken has died. You want to take this down now, or would you like the phone number. Or has your shift at Starbucks started already?

NY Times confirms it, too. I remember watching Remote Conrol back in the day, but didn't know that Ken Ober was so active since then. Also didn't know he was on Star Search.
What a shame- 52 is way too young.

Definitely, too young. Thanks for posting, Truemorist.

Given that what he posted first was completely erroneous and that he still hasn't had the good grace to apologize for that, I don't get what you're thanking him for.

Trumorist: Please retire. Ken's friends and family went through enough today without seeing a bunch of jackasses with no interest in research or sources or facts call it a hoax. Horrible.
