KENYA GOVT TO BUILD A MAUSOLEUM FOR BARACK OBAMA SNR. FAMILY FIGHTS OVER LOCATION
The Kenya govt has unveiled plans to build a decent mausoleum over his simple grave at Alego-Kogero in Nyanza Province of Kenya.
A kenyan cabinet minister was at the site yesterday to unveil the site beacon and launch the works around the grave.
But even as she was unveiling plans for the construction, the members of the family were locked in heated arguements over the location of the mausoleum.
The clan argues that the mausoleum should be sited at the deceased actual place of birth which is a number of kilometres in a different village from the current grave site.
The clan is basing their arguements along age old Luo traditions which were not considered important at the time of burial may be because Barack Snr was not a celebrity at the time of his death.
But with election of his son as the 44th President of America, things have changed and the clan members are smelling an opportunity to exploit the mausoleum site as a pilgrimage site hence drawing fame to the sorrounding areas.
For the Kenyan govt.this gesture amounts to court jestering in order to draw favourable relations with its distant grandson who has finally become famous.
What is not clear is whether the President-elect has been briefed or consulted in this new development that affects his kenyan family.
Fame it seems,is also extended to the dead thro their fillial association long after death.
