Kevin McGee, the ex-husband of Little Britain star Matt Lucas committed suicide at his home in Edinburgh, Scotland. McGee hanged himself and was found dead by police broke into his home after close friends of the TV producer became worried and informed the department of a foreboding Facebook status update. "Kevin McGee thinks death is much better than life" his status read sometime after 4 a.m. on October 5, 2009.

McGee met Lucas in 2002 while he was working for Comic Relief, prior to Lucas' rise to fame on the hit Little Britain. The pair was married in a civil partnership in 2006 with a panto-themed reception for family and their show business friends.

The couple split up last year and finalized the divorce in January of this year. Friends of the couple stated the two had grown apart after Lucas garnered fame for his role on Little Britain, leaving little time for the two to spend together. Following the break-up McGee was stricken with depression and turned to drugs to cope; friends claimed his habit "spiralled out of control."

Matt is said to be 'utterly destroyed' by the news of his ex-husband's death and is being comforted by his comedy partner David Walliams at his home in London.
The Little Britain star has also pulled out of his lead role in West End play Prick Up Your Ears 'until further notice', say the play's producers.

In a statement to The Sun a friend of  Lucas' said, "Matt was floored when he heard the news. He always loved Kevin, despite their differences and their difficult marriage."
